Brass Tech Art for Orcs Must Die! Unchained

I had the pleasure of creating this V-tuber Avatar for the French Twitch streamer and Youtuber Angel Vayuu. I was in charge of the main design of the character, as well as every part in the creation of the 3D aspects of the character, including the rigging, skinning, and the blendshapes. 

I completely designed her body underneath the clothes as well:

During the design process, I went back and forth with my client to discuss the needs of the project and what she wanted in the character's design.

Angel Vayuu V-Tuber Avatar

Fire Samurai

A head created with the intent for use in real-time projects. This is my practice for hair card placement and creating high skin detail from scratch.
Face was sculpted in Zbrush and the detail maps were baked in Substance Painter. Render images are from Marmoset Toolbag 4.
Hair cards were hand-placed by me in Maya with curves. GS Curve tool (

) really came in handy and I highly recommend it for a hand placed hair card method!

Swamp Creature

It's been 2 years since Qinni (Qing Han) passed away and I decided to do a tribute piece based on one of her art pieces.  Qing Han's passing hit me very hard and I have a lot of continuing grief, and I have some things I would like to write. I wanted to make a tribute art for her 2 years ago, but I didn't feel like I could at the time for many reasons. She has so much wonderful art.Qinni was a big inspiration to me and helped me feel empowered to make art when I was very young. I encountered her art on deviantart, and her animation with the glowing fish is so iconic in my mind that it plays in my mind every so often throughout my whole life. I think early on I somewhat saw myself in her, and that made me feel like making nice art was achievable.

 I want to share my experience of the day I found out Qinni had passed away, because I'll remember it forever. I had been worrying about her for months since she posted about her struggles with cancer. One day my friend texted me telling me the news. I was at work and i ended up leaving early for the day because I couldn't stop crying. I made a stop by my favorite coffee shop that I was a regular of to get some kind of sweet drink. The baristas were comfortable chatting with me because I went there so often. One barista asked me, "how's it going?" and I couldn't even pretend, "bad" I replied. He was concerned and asked me why. I told him what happened, and I unintentionally burst out into tears. He didn't have to do this, but he gave me a hug as I cried into his shoulder. He followed by telling me how sad he was when Aviici passed away, and he related to me. The barista told me that it's sad when artists are only appreciated when they are gone. "We should support the living legends." he told me. I wish I thought to support her more when she was here.

Going into the future I will always take this baristas thought with me and be sure to support the people who inspire me while they are here to receive my support. I do also hope Qinni is looking down and understanding the impact she made to a total stranger like me. (Just as the barista did as well. I don't even know his name...)

Qinni Tribute Piece

Rendered in Cinema4D. I sculpted, posed, UVed and textured the character. Gun is a downloaded asset, edited by me to have a heart barrel.

SATISFACTION

Created the High poly character in Zbrush. Clothes created inside Marvelous Designer and detailed in Zbrush. Character and elements of final render textured in substance painter.

Character was posed by importing to Mixamo, downloading the rigged character with a similar jumping animation, importing the model/anim into Maya, taking a frame I liked and editing the pose into the desired pose. I then further edited the pose in Zbrush as the mixamo skin auto weighting gave me unwanted warping. This was a quick way for me to get a posed character model for me to import into Cinema4D for rendering. 

Character rendered in Cinema4D. The TVs and the base jump pad were downloaded assets. I set up the lights and the materials/textures in this scene and rendered it out.

EMERGENCE

I had the great opportunity to work with the phone company OnePlus in collaboration with Ekah (Elis Ekdahl) (

  for his work) to create 15 unique rendered images for their 8 year anniversary NFT giveaway! Ekah and I worked together with the marketing team from OnePlus to design 15 renders depicting all of the different generations of phones they have released up until now, and they gave away these as NFTs to Oneplus fans in a promotional event. We had an extremely tight deadline, and the project was successful in generating engagement for the company. 

Ekah and I took care to implement details from each phone into the design of each render. I mainly was in charge of the character design + modeling, and overall art direction of the project between the both of us. Ekah took more of a role in designing the backgrounds and creating great materials for the render scene. We both did a lot of deliberating on the design of each image, both between Ekah and I, and with the OnePlus marketing team.  Overall it was great working together on this project and I am very thankful to have been asked to be a part of it. 

I was in charge of sculpting the Hair, Head, USB-C Background model piece, as well as various textures and design ideas.

The background mimics a USB-C port, and this phone uses Android Lollipop, so we thought it would be cute to add a lollipop!

Each NFT also had a unique version that came with a gold border that was extra rare. I modeled out this border and we applied it to every image. 

OnePlus 8 Year Anniversary NFT Giveaway Project

I took this character from another unfinished personal project and repurposed her for this render. Originally she was on a throne, but I sculped her into a different pose and opened her mouth to give her a dynamic look. (Originally I sculpted her mouth closed)

Sci-Fi Alien Rigging Demo. Example of an alien in a game demo. I was in charge of the skinnning, retopology, uvs, baking, and material setup inside Unreal engine 4 for this alien. Rig created by Taylor Wright. High Poly alien character created by Won Choi.

Tusked Alien (Technical Art)

These are a few characters created for VR simulation contract projects. The characters were created for simulation demos and were completed within 2 or 3 weeks start to finish before being implemented into the project. These characters were imported into Unity engine.

This work is based off of the awesome original concept by Yi Zhang "Wasteland Animal" : 

I created this character within the context of a 30 day Stylized Character Art Course from the Game Art Institute, Mentored by Ryan Kingslien. (With video course by Yulia Sokolova!) Not all the guns were made to stay true to the 30 day challenge aspect of the class, so I culled those items in the interest of saving time and finishing the project. Created in my free time while working a full time job.

This is a photogrammetry scan of myself! I have cleaned up this model and fixed the texture where there were artifacts. Photogrammetry data provided by Captured Dimensions.

The model was Zremeshed as per the workflow of the studio I was working at. In this workflow, the posed models do not typically move at all and are not rigged, so we were told to not worry about the topology for this type of project.

The photogrammetry takes place in a room such as this one, with many cameras.

Self Portrait - Photogrammetry

I created 3D character avatars for the VR simulation "Tabletop Commander". These models were used in the multiplayer functionality of the simulation. You are able to select your outfit style and choose a color for your outfit.

I came up with the design/concept of the avatars with feedback from my art lead, and was responsible for modeling and texturing for the character models.

Airforce Avatars for VR

Here's a personal project I've been working on in my spare time. With the new expansion of World of Warcraft coming out (Battle for Azeroth) I was really inspired to make fan art of a Nightborne elf! This elf is an original character I came up with, while still keeping in line with the racial characteristics of the Nightborne elves Blizzard has in place. I think the Nightborne race is super cool, and it's super
cool that Blizzard made them a playable race this expansion. :) (I'll actually be playing a Void Elf this expansion but that's besides the point haha)

This is my own take on a simple version of the Nightborne racial armor. This is the low poly model with only diffuse, specular and emissive maps.
